Its about time...

For those of you who might have tried to find out what has been happening with the Evans family this post is for you.  Its a bit long, but I knew I could do one post.  Its easy to just do one, right?
This is the first bus ride for Grant and Ashlyn.  They absolutely loved it.  We went from Dallas to Six Flags.
Cute kids at Six Flaggs!

Happy Father's Day Daddy!  He got a couple new shirts and a very small fresh strawberry pie!
This is my adorable little Ashlyn after her hair was cut by her naughty big brother.  At least that is what we think happened(he had the scissors)!

Most of the rest of the pictures are from our near month long vacation this July and August.  We started out with a couple days in Edmond, Oklahoma visiting family.  We love seeing our closest(by location) relatives and swimming in their pool.

We promised the kids dinosaurs when we got to Utah.  We took the scenic route and went through Vernal, Utah (never again though).

These next few are at the Treehouse Museum in Ogden, Utah.  I've got some real farmers, oh wait, maybe firefighters!  You know kids, they change their mind at least 20 times a day!

A quick trip to the local Arctic Circle to see some friends.  For those of you who didn't get to see me try not to feel too bad.  I didn't have enough time to visit everyone.  So sorry.
Here is our posterity after 10 or so years.  They all love ice cream!
We kicked off the "09 Wilcox Reunion with a trip to the stables.  This was very exciting for the kids.  The adults had fun riding the horses too.  For those on Facebook, this is close to the same picture that my dear sister, Elise and dearest brother, Jesse used when they set up an account for me without my permission.  I guess I should be grateful they didn't use a worse one.
The parade-need I say more!!

Every year on the last weekend of July you can go to "That Famous Preston Night Rodeo"  We opted to go to the carnival after the parade.  The kids sure had a fun time.

This had to be the most miserable day at Bear Lake I have ever experienced.  It was really windy and very cold.  The kids braved the water for a few minutes, but thats about it.
Here is Ashlyn saying good-bye to her cousin Jed.  He is a year younger than her.  Hey, Ashlyn, pull up your pants!
A final good-bye to Grandpa(and a tour of the Preston post office).
On our way to Oregon at last.  We're hoping for cooler weather.
Don't our kids know how to work?
A picnic at Cook Park-I guess they were hungry!
A walk in the park.  You could say we spent a lot of time in Cook Park on our trip to Oregon.  I didn't get any pictures of the many blackberries we picked, but they tasted good.

Feeding the ducks!
Ashlyn and Sophie.  They were the best of friends!
This picture speaks for itself!

A day at Silver Creek Falls.   Grandma Evans having fun with the grandkids!

PDX-flight to SLC delayed.  Thank goodness for legos!!
Distractions!!!  Who would have thought they would like the construction more than all the stuffed animals in the museum?
Oops, forgot to rotate.  the Bean Museum, Provo, Utah
The Russell"s, Orem, Utah

Bridal Veil Falls, Provo Canyon

killing time at the"pool"

Happy Birthday Ashlyn!

I hope you all enjoyed this glimpse into the last 5 months of our lives.  It took forever to "catch up" so I guess I'll have to do better in the future and not let it get to that point again.  I need to remember the advice given to me.  Its easier to maintain as you go along rather than catch up in the end.  Its true too!!

Finally, something new

This is what some of you may be thinking.  All morning long I've sat at the the computer, (or the laptop sat on me) working on blog updates.  There have been many interruptions, but there are also a few new posts.  Just to let you know why I haven't blogged recently,  I've started cutting coupons, printing coupons, organizing coupons, and using coupons.  It takes a lot of time.  One of my favorite sites to go to is http://www.moneysavingmom.com/ I spend way too much time on the site and links from the site.  I just wanted to let everyone know I have survived a month of shopping and have saved tons of money.  Its been lots of fun.  I'm still alive and well.  Happy blogging.  Please scroll down to see what's been going on at the Evans household.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANT!

Look at the happy 4 year old.  He sure has a cheesy grin.  Grant was so excited for his birthday this year that he convinced us to celebrate a day early.  Actually, we celebrated a day early because Daddy had to stay late for meetings after work.  We all had a good time.  I even decorated, but you can't see any of the streamers and balloons in the pictures.

This is Grant's race car cake.  It turned out really cute!!  Its my best so far.

I was really happy to get Grant some things I knew he wanted.  He got two Transformers, Optimus Prime and Ratchet.  He loves them and I hate them more every day.  Dave pointed out that we should have thought about how our lives would change before we got him the Transformers.  I must say, now that its been a few days, I can transform them in 30 seconds or less.
Hey dad look at this!
Wow, it's Optimus!
He's been wanting some "Crocs", so I got him a cheap imitation.  I think he was happy to get them, don't you think?
A few months ago all I heard about was Cars and I got a few gifts for him.  Naturally, he had to start a new fad with Transformers.
Grant started watching Transformer episodes when we checked out a dvd from the library.  Now we can watch them whenever we want.  What was I thinking?  My life will never be the same.

Happy Mothers Day

What more could a mom ask for...
Ashlyn
Grant
Happy loving children

Well, since you asked, a mom can ask for a lot of things.  Of course, there are lots of things to get without asking.  Dave was really good to me and made me breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  He also changed all the stinky diapers for the day and brushed Grant and Ashlyn's teeth giving me a night off.  These are all great gifts.  The other thing I got was a new vacuum.  Dave doesn't like me to tell anyone I got a new vacuum, but I don't care.  Its what I wanted.  I vacuum much more often than I did before I got my new dyson.  I did have to buy it myself, but I found a great deal I couldn't pass up ($80 off and an $80 gift card too).  I couldn't wait long enough for Dave to get it.

Do you like Grant's hair cut?  He had me spike it for church.  Its quite a different look than the one he sported on my birthday.

Upside down birthday cake

I wish I had taken a picture of this before I cleaned most of it up.  Grant was trying to get some cake and dropped the pyrex pan on the floor.  It shattered.  Cake and frosting went everywhere, not to mention the glass that went flying.  We had been wondering how we would eat the cake before it went bad.  Problem solved.

MY BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION!

I had a great birthday surprise.  In addition to the lovely cake decorated with candles and the very practical presents (see the shovel), Dave made me a delicious dinner.  The night before, I came home from a long day at work to a candle light dinner.  Dave made me an Indian dish that was sooo good. The kids were already in bed and after dinner we watched a movie (a rare treat).  What a nice birthday!!!

Back to the flowers

You may have wondered about the flowers I posted last week.  No, they are not from my yard. Yes, they are from Hobby Lobby.  I have started a new and very simple project.  Hair clips!  Please notice how cute my model is.  She knows just how to pose for the camera.

These are a few that I have made.  Each pair takes about one minute to make and they are very affordable (price per pair).

Originally, I posted the pictures for my sister to see because its easier for me to post on a blog than email them.  I wanted to erase the post once she saw them, but a comment was made before I could do that.  So, now you get to see the finished product.  This is something we are going to do for our Wilcox family reunion this summer when we go to Idaho.
